FIRAT UNIVERSÎY THE INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES THE DEPARTMENT OF TURKISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE 1999, PAGE 691(XXVI+. 665) This study bases on 17th. century poet "şehrî (Ali Çelebi from Malatya) and consist of his life, art, criticism of his divan and its analysis. Şehrî was influenced by Sebk-i Hindî as similar to a number of other counterpart poets. ît is possible to trace characteristics of this style in his poems As a result our study; 26 written coppies of Şehrî3 s Divan have been traced and found. Critical text study has been done on 7 coppies under the light of different criterions By taking this evaluated critical text as a base Religion-Islamic Mysticism.Society, Human being, and Nature have been scnitunced. Thus how poet indicate, the characteristics of his era and how much he reflect them in this poems have been shown. In conclusion, Şehrî, one of the important character of the Old Turkish Litareture and his academic personality and works have been introduced to the world literature through this study.
