Sheik Mahmud ez-Zokaydî and ed-Dâ' ve'd-Devâ' his work

Sheik Mahmud ez-Zokaydî was born in Halanze/Bağtepe village in 1877. His father was Abdulkahhar (1906) and his mother was Saliha hanım (1925). Sheik Mahmud ez-Zokaydî started his education in Zokayd Madrasah under the supervision of his father. Next, he continued his education in Mullah Halil Madrasah in Siirt under the supervision of his uncle. After a while, he came back to Zokayd Madrasah and completed his education there. He started his teaching career at the same madrasah after taking the ratification from his father. Zokayd Madrasah became one of the best prestigious madrasah of the region in terms of knowledge at the period of his father and himself. After his death the madrasah continued serving education by the help of his children and followers. Sheik Mahmud ez-Zokaydî tried to serve guidance for people in order to show them the truth while he was teaching knowledge to his followers after his father?s death.Sheik Mahmud ez-Zokaydî fought against Russia at the World War I. He had to travel to Aleppo and Beirut because of his son?s illness. Meanwhile, he helped the poor people with his whole wealth because of the famine in the Eastern. In spite of the fact that he didn?t reinforce the Sheik Sait Rebellion, he was accused giving help Sheik Sait. As a consequence, he was not only exposed to persecution and torture but also he was forced to move Korkuteli in Antalya for three years. Even, he came back from the banishment; he had to stay for two years (1935-1937) in Diyarbakır. He again helped the poor people with his whole wealth at the second famine in 1940s. He never gave up learning and sharing knowledge and serving guidance for people despite all the torture, banishment and obstacles till the end of his life. Sheik Mahmud ez-Zokaydî who knew Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic and Persian very well died in 1364/ March, 1945.Sheik Mahmud ez-Zokaydî who was Eş?ari in terms of creed, Şafii in terms of practice and Nakşibendi in terms of religious sect proved that he had a modern personality by trying to come up with troubles lived in Islamic World despite being a traditionalist. The author nearly have twenty works on memories, Islamic law, literature, science of Islamic pronunciation, science of Islamic inheritance, hadith, rejection, syntax, social intercourse, etc. All of his works are available but none of them is on publishing.The author handles the mental anguish in Islamic World in ed-Da? ve?d-Deva? which is being examined. Islam spread like wildfire from the very beginning of Hz. Muhammed?s period thanks to representative lives of sahabas, fair government, equality among people and sense and knowledge on which Islam puts high importance. Unfortunately, things changed in the Hz. Osman?s period because of wrong applications by his relatives. Unfair management and racism politics applied in the period of Umayyad Dynasty not only caused Muslims especially Persians who newly accepted Islam to miss their previous regions but also reminded them to revenge of Battle of al-Qâdisiyah. Some people tried to live their previous region under the name of Islam that concluded in superstition and variance in Islam. The author explains the reasons of the variance as a conclusion of politic and personal interest and being desirous of restoring their previous region. He also mentions about the existence of some sanctimonious sheiks among defender of Sunna. He indicates that they tried to impose some faiths which were out of Islam via fake hadithes in order to lead people according to their own benefits. The author emphasizes on absolute justice, equality among people and promoted education with moral knowledge which is also compatible with wisdom as the remedy of those kinds of anguishes.
