Investigation of sexual functions after cesarean hysterectomy for patients with placenta previa

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sexual functions of the patients who underwent emergency peripartum hysterectomy with the indication of placenta previa totalis in the Obstetrics Clinic. Material and Method: The study included 29 patients who were hospitalized in Dicle University Medical Faculty, Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic with PPT, between 2000-2018. Patients who accepted the study were invited to our hospital for examination. The patients were examined and demographic data were recorded and conditions that might affect CF were questioned. The effects of CF after APH were examined. For the analysis of the data, SPSS 22 package was used. Results: In our clinic, there were 11314 births in 9 years period, 8954 (79,14%) of them were caesarean section and 2042 (22,8%) of these cesarean sections were taken with PPT indication. With the indication of PPT, 54 patients (2,64%) had APH. 33 of 54 patients were reached. All patients were delivered by cesarean section at least once and four patients with PPT without cesarean section were excluded from the study. The age range of the patients was 25-45 years and their mean was 35.38 ± 4.69 years. The sexual function score range of the patients was 10.8-27.6 and the mean score was 18.21 ± 4.21. We evaluated the effects of APH on CF by comparing the various data that we thought might affect female sexuality after APH. Conclusion: It was concluded that the parameters that we think may affect the sexual life of the patients who were affected by PPT, did not affect the sexual response, only hypogastric artery binding effect the sexual response.
