Transcription and evaluation of Sıhhat newspaper (1-20. numbers)

With the widespread use of the printing press, publishing activities to raise public awareness have started in various parts of the world. One of the most important ways to inform the public is through newspapers and magazines that are published regularly. In the nineteenth century, various groups in the Ottoman society published newspapers and magazines in order to educate and raise awareness of the people. One of them is the Sıhhat newspaper published by Manuel Ütücyan Bey, an Armenian doctor in the Ottoman State. The newspaper began publication in 1884 and was published regularly for four years. The newspaper, which was published weekly, was published in Turkish with Ottoman letters. The newspaper, which was sold for 30 coins in the first period, was sold for 50 dollars in the following periods. A total of 176 issues were published, including 45 issues in the first year, 44 issues in the second and third years, and 43 issues in the fourth year. The administration of the newspaper, which was explained in its first issue as conveying the sultan's works in the field of health and describing the importance of science that caused the progress of the period, is located on Zambak Street in Beyoğlu. In this study, the 1st edition of the Sıhhat newspaper. The number 20 published in the year was transcribed and evaluated. When the subject headings were examined, it was seen that issues such as epidemics, developments in the field of medicine in Europe, and proper nutrition methods were mentioned in the newspaper. The last pages of the newspaper were reserved as the advertisement section and in this section, promotions for various drinks were made.
