Cultivation role of television in terms of violence, general life, personality traits and age

Television, which is the mainstream of the common symbolic environment, which develops the concepts of shared reality and value, has increased its influence on people over the years and prevented the primary sources from which they learned their roles and images in society. Television plays an active role in the formation of common consciousness by cultivating what people, who, which groups or which value judgments are more important in society. Television also fulfills an ideological function as a means of social control, mediating the internalization of the future of the worse, even though certain stereotyping and sovereign dependent relationships do not change.In such an unequal environment, the elderly are the most exposed to discrimination according to age groups. According to George Gerbner's Cutivation Theory, which handles the current impact of television in the most comprehensive way, those who watch television a lot internalize the realities of the television world. In this sense, in this study, which has the role of raising the subject of television, a scientific analysis of violence, general life, personality traits and old age images in the television series broadcasted on the weekday prime-time broadcast is presented and it is revealed whether different television watching rates contribute to the perceptions of the audience on the mentioned phenomena tried to be put. For this purpose, 24 television series published in seven national channels in Turkey has been subjected to a comprehensive analysis of the Message System Analysis. In the second phase of the research, Cultivation Analysis, it was tried to discover whether the people who watched television internalize the television world internally or not by means of the questionnaire questions prepared from the pioneers of the mentioned prime-time world. The results of the growing influence of television in Turkey has revealed that it is extremely powerful.
