The search about the level of self esteem and the tendency to agression of the secondary school students who play computer games containing violence

This study has been carried out to study the level of the self esteem and tendecy to agression of the children that play computer games containing violence.The population of this research involves 273 students in the 5th,6th,7th and 8th grades of Private Bahcelievler Ihlas College in 2013 and 2014.Due to the invalid scale factors,the research has been carried out with 265 students. In the research for getting information to determine some personal features of the participants (The number of their siblings,whether their parents are together(married)or not,their monthly income and if they have any game consoles or not) a form called "Personal Information Form" ,which was prepared by the researcher, has been used.Also to attain the level of agression "Buss Perry Agression Scale" and to attain the level of self esteem "Rosenberg Self Respect Scale" have been used. The results have been evaluated in the statistical programme SPSS22. For the bivariate analysis T- Test, Mann-Whitney U Test;in the groups with more than two variables Kruskal Wallis and Anova Tests have been used. As a result of the research it has been stated that the children who play computer games including violence are more inclined to be agressive than the ones who play different kinds of computer games.Besides it has been concluded that the children who play violent games have less self esteem than the other children.
