The relationship of the comedy as a genre of cinema with the power an the opposition: The sample of Arzu Film

Since the ancient era philosophers, the relationship of the comedy with the power and the opposition has been touched on to certain extent. The ideas and studies about that relationship could be divided basically into two groups. While the first group perceives the comedy as a weapon to criticize, which is made by the opposition to the power, the other group argues that the comedy is a tool to deactivate the social opposition that could pose a more serious danger for the power. Arzu Film Company which realized important comedy films of the Turkish cinema showed the comedy type of films between the years of 1968-1980 when the social opposition in Turkey was the most advanced and the most effective. In this respect, the analysis of Arzu Film's sort of comedy films in relation to the power and the opposition between aforementioned years is targeted.
