Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate the level of pre-service Primary teachers' estimation skills and attitudes towards computational estimation. For this purpose, the pre-service primary teachers' computational estimation skills and attitudes towards computational estimation were examined in terms of class level, gender, undergraduate grade point averages, and whether or not to take Basic Mathematics I-II, Mathematics Teaching I-II. The sample of the study consists of 337 prospective primary teachers, 181 of whom are from Uşak University and 156 of whom are from Afyon Kocatepe University. In the research, "Computational Estimation Skill Test" was used to measure the computational prediction skills of prospective primary teachers. Also, In the research, attitude test for computational estimation developed by Tsao was used. Computational estimation skill attitude test consists of five sub-factors and 35 items in the original scale. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed to adapt the scale to Turkish. Independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA test, and Tukey HSD test were used to determine the difference between the groups. Pearson correlation test was used for the relationship between two continuous variables. According to the results of the study, it was seen that the pre-service primary teachers' attitudes towards computational estimation were positive in the study. It has been found that there is a significant difference in favor of those who take Mathematics I course, it is found that Basic Mathematics I, Basic Mathematics II and undergraduate general point average have a moderate positive effect. It was determined that the pre-service primary teachers had a moderate level of computational estimation skills.
