Examination of the primary-school teachers' level of information technology usage in terms of different variables

The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of information technology usage of the primary school teachers in terms of different variables who are working in Şahinbey/Gaziantep. Within the frame of this purpose, the primary school teachers' level of information technology usage was examined in terms of sub-dimensions of Teachers' Level of Information Technology Usage Scale. In this study mixed method in which quantitive and qualitative data are analyzed together was used. The pattern of this study is Convergent Parallel Mixed Method Pattern. In this study, the information technology specification scale of teachers developed by Bayraktar (2015) was used. The sample group was obtained from 715 primary school teachers. t-Test, ANOVA Test, Scheffe Test and Multiple Regression Analysis were applied to data set by using SPSS 22.0 programme. The study group consists of ten primary school teachers who participated in interview by using a semi-structured interview form. Qualitative data obtained from these teachers were analysed with the method of content analysis. Significant difference has been found between the level of information technology usage, the level of technology literacy and the level of integration of technology into the courses of primary-school teachers. Furthermore, the level of information technology usage and the level of technology literacy of the teachers who graduated from faculty of education have been found higher compared to the others graduated from other faculties. In this study, significiant differences have been found between the variables such as gender, the faculty that were graduated from, level of education, teaching experience, age, courses about technology that were taken before, the time spent in front of computer, and the level of using information technology. In accordance with the purpose of the study, primary school teachers' level of information technology usage has been found high.
