Investigation of first aid self-efficacy and first aid knowledge levels of primary school teachers

The aim of this study is to determine the first aid self-efficacy and first aid knowledge levels of primary school teachers and the relationship between them. The sample of the study consisted of primary school teachers working in Çankırı province and its districts, and a total of 180 classroom teachers participated in the current study. In line with the purpose of the study, first aid self-efficacy and first aid knowledge levels of classroom teachers were examined according to various demographic variables with independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance between groups and Kruskal Wallis tests. The relationship between first aid knowledge and first aid self-efficacy was analyzed by correlation, multiple linear regression and hierarchical linear regression methods. The findings of the study indicated that the participants' first aid self-efficacy differed in terms of gender, age and first aid training. It was determined that the first aid knowledge levels of the participants differed between those who took and did not take first aid courses in university education, and those who attended and did not participate in first aid training in the MEB in-service training course. The results of the relational analyzes showed that there is a relationship between primary school teachers' first aid self-efficacy and first aid knowledge levels. According to the results obtained from the study, it was suggested that first aid training should be given to classroom teachers at regular intervals, and that the training should be both theoretical and practical to increase the effectiveness of the training.
