The relationship between classroom teachers' organizational support perceptions and organizational citizenship behaviors

This research aimed to determine the relationship between classroom teachers' organizational support perceptions and their organizational citizenship behaviors. The population of the research was composed of the state primary schools in Bolu city center and the classroom teachers working in these schools in the 2020-2021 academic year. Correlational survey model was used in the research. Demographic Information Form, "Perceived Organizational Support Scale" developed by Derinbay (2011) and "Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale" which was adapted to Turkish and educational institutions by Polat (2007) in his doctoral thesis were used as data collection tools in the research. The data were analyzed using computer software and the significance level was accepted as 0.05. Frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation analyses were used in data analysis along with Kruskal Wallis Test, Mann Whitney U Test and Spearman Brown Correlation Coefficient. Based on the research results; it was concluded that classroom teachers had high levels of organizational support perceptions and organizational citizenship behaviors. A significant difference was found in the whole Perceived Organizational Support Scale and instructional support, administrative support and justice dimensions in regards to age, professional seniority and working time of the classroom teachers in their respective schools. Also, a significant difference was found in the Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale in general, along with the dimensions of altruism and civic virtue, based on age, professional seniority and working time of the classroom teachers at their respective schools. A positive and moderately significant relationship was found between classroom teachers' organizational support perceptions and their organizational citizenship behaviors.
