Abstract (EN)

The Federal Republic of Somalia collapsed in 1990 due to civil war. At that time, all valuable things were lost, including documents and data, and the economic value of the country also decreased. Agricultural and soil inventories are also included in the lost documents. This study was carried out to contribute to soil inventories that may be important for the country that collects its data. It focuses on updating the soil map of Somalia. Firstly, in the study, digital climate maps including temperature and precipitation were developed to show the type of climate in Somalia. In addition, a digital geological map, soil map, slope map, and digital elevation model map were prepared. Dry and rainy periods of the Landsat image were analyzed using unsupervised classification, and rainy and dry period land use maps were produced. Secondly, using GIS technology, all maps were overlaid with weighted overlay analysis and factorial soil map boundaries were produced. This map was compared with the existing coarse-scale soil map, and information about its update ability was produced. As a result, it has been revealed that some boundaries in the existing soil map can be detailed with this data set. The study shows that the soil map of Somalia can be developed with numerical data.
