Effect of solarization and vesicular-arbuscular mychorrizal (Glomus intraradices) on plant growth and yield for lettuce growing in fall

Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted in the field of Agriculture Faculty Dicle University in 2007 years. The experiment established in loamy- clayey soild with the seedlings of Yedikule lettuce ( Lactuca sativa L.) infected by Glomus intraradices mychorriza species to increase the yield and quality in lettuce production.The lettuce seedlings infected and disenfected with mychorriza propageted in in vitro condition were planted by divided parcel experiment design. The study was conducted as the main plot applied solarization and non-solarization and subplot with mychorriza and without mychoriza included four repetition. .The solarizated field increased the soil temperature than non-applied in different soil depth; such as 11 oC in 5 cm depth, 8 oC in 20 cm and 5 oC in 30 cm. This situation continued to the end of the vegetative season and also blocked the germination and sprouding of weed plants.Plant height, plant width and yield showed big increase were obtained in solarized area during the 45 days of vegetative season. The data was significant by 1% level for three growth factor. In solarized area the average weight of lettuce was obtained 138,850 gr but in control parcel the average weight was 30,850 gr. The increase in mychoriza parcel for three growth factor were found significant at 5% level. But the interaction between two application was found non significant.As sign prof of using michoriza for plant benefit, first in field mychoriza dutied like a bridge between lettuce and foreign mustard ( Sinapsis arvensis L.) because mustrad has no common life with this fungus. Also the laboratory foundings supported this; the number of spor, number of mychorrizal infected and infection rate were higher both in main parcel of solarized and in subplot parcel planted with mychorrizal seedlings than the parcel non-solarized and without mychorrizal seedlings. The result for both criter in solarization was significant at 5 % level but 1 % level was non-significant for mychorrizal application.But the interaction with mychorriza and solarization was found non-significant.As a result, the VAM inoculation after solarization application is benefit for lettuce growing in Fall.
