Determining the management competencies of supervisor nurses

This descriptive study was conducted to determine the managerial competence of süpervisor nurses. In study; Personal Information Form which was developed by scanning the literature and "Nursing Supervisor Competency Evaluation Inventory" 2005 developed by Sökmen in 2005 were used. The sample of the study consisted of 120 nursing supervisor. All permissions required for conducting the study, ethical committee approval and verbal consent were obtained from the participants. The data were collected by the researcher between 15/03 / 2018-27 / 07/2018. SPSS (IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0) package program was used for statistical analysis of the data. Categorical measurements are summarized as numbers and percentages, and continuous measurements are summarized as mean, standard deviation and minimum-maximum. In the comparison of continuous measurements between groups, distributions were controlled and independent student t-test was used for two-group variables and ANOVA and Tukey HSD test were used for more than two variables. Pearson Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between the subscales of the scale. The mean age of the participants in the study was found to be 39.99 ± 5.95. 93.0% of the participants were women, 75.0% were married, 65.8% were undergraduate graduates. Statistically significant differences were found between the participants' hospitals, the time they worked as managers and the way they were addressed by their subordinates and the subscales of the scale. In the study, Cronbach's alpha of the scale was 0.973 and it was found to be highly reliable. As a result, it was found that the level of managerial competence of the participants was high. When it comes to the selection of managers in hospitals, it may be suggested that candidates should consider their management experience and management training.
