Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of using museum education activities in social studies course on students' academic success, attitudes and disaster awareness levels in Flood Museum, which is one of the rare museums established in our country related to natural disasters. As a result of the study, the effects of the activities carried out in the Flood Museum on students were examined. In the study, a mixed method in which qualitative and quantitative methods were considered together was used. In the quantitative part of the study, a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group was used. Qualitative data were used to support quantitative data as a result of the quasi-experimental process. As a result of this situation, the research design is an embedded design. 48 students participated in the quantitative part of the study and 24 students participated in the qualitative part of the study. In the study, Academic Achievement Test, Attitude Scale towards Social Studies Course, Disaster Awareness Perception Scale were used to collect quantitative data, while Museum Trip Open-Ended Questions form was used for qualitative data. The quantitative data of the study were analyzed using Mann-Whitney U Test and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test in SPSS 27 package program. The qualitative data of the research were evaluated with content analysis technique. According to the quantitative results of the study, it was determined that the activities carried out in the Flood Museum had a positive effect on academic success, attitude towards social studies course and disaster awareness perception levels in favor of the experimental group. According to the qualitative results, it was concluded that the experimental group expressed positive opinions about the activities carried out in the Flood Museum. At the end of the research, recommendations were made for museum founders, researchers and the Ministry of National Education
