Social information determination of the level of anxiety of teacher candidatestowards the teaching profession

In this research, it is aimed to examine the level of anxiety of social studies senior teacher candidates for the teaching profession. In the research, an inward pattern from mixed method research patterns was used. A total of 65 teacher candidates, 40 women and 25 men, were selected according to the sampling of the study's working group, which is easily accessible from purposeful sampling methods, and who studied social studies in the last year of social studies education at akdeniz university faculty of education in the 2019-2020 academic year. Data on the quantitative dimension of the study were collected by the anxiety scale for the teaching profession. Spss 22 package programs were used to analyze the quantitative dimension of the research. T-test and anova analyses were used in the analysis of quantitative data. Data on the qualitative dimension of the study were collected through a structured interview form prepared to explain and support quantitative data. Descriptive analysis technique was used in the analysis of qualitative data. When the results of the study are evaluated in general, it is possible to say that the level of anxiety of senior teacher candidates towards the teaching profession is moderate. In addition, their concerns do not differ according to gender, gano, maternal education status, family income status and location variables experienced before starting to university; it was concluded that there was only a significant difference between the non-literate and the elementary education variable in the paternal education status variable in favor of those who graduated from primary school. This is explained and generalized by the data obtained through the semi-structured interview form.
