In today?s world, social democracy is a universally systematical ideology which isconsidered together with human rights social democracy that containing; democracy, socialjustice and equality values, have shaped the human rights conceptions with the policiesthey have put forth and also have a great impact on human rights applications.In this study, by doing some researches about how democracy as a concept appearedin history, its development through the ages and also social democracy conceptions, basicsand roots are aimed to be revealed.It will be examined, the idea of social democracy that shaped in the Marxistideologic system as a third way or critics of Marxism. Therefore it has so much importanceto get crucial points of Marxism and make clear distinction between this two.While making a clear distinction; democracy is an arbiter subject in socialdemocracy idea, with this respect, it?s hence very important.While analyzing the root of social democracy; other political ideas is explainedwhich led to appearance of this political thought. At the end of this study, the strongrelationship of socialism and democracy in social democratic thought are revealed.In this study, in which the development of social democratic idea and its settlingthre is examined, the focus is on the effect of social democracy on human rights. Inaccordance with that, social and human right policies in Sweden are analyzed.Key Words :Marxism, democracy, social democracy, welfare state, Sweden
