Abstract (EN)

Social media addiction arises due to excessive use and inability to control social media applications by individuals. This addiction affects all living areas of individuals. The communication opportunities provided by social media cause changes in socialization processes, behavior patterns, personal preferences and living standards. Especially, the uncontrolled use of social media by employees during working hours may cause direct and indirect effects on individual performance, work and family living spaces and social relations. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of social media addiction on employees' job performance and work-family conflict and the mediating role of job satisfaction. With the quantitative research method, the form consisting of 71 questions to the participants was applied to 407 bank employees operating in Gaziantep between June and October 2020 by online survey method. The survey consists of the first part about the social media addiction levels of the employees, the second part about job performance, job satisfaction and workfamily conflict, and the third part, where demographic characteristics are determined. The obtained data were analyzed through SPSS and AMOS statistical package programs. Confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient to determine reliability, and kurtosis and skewness values to determine distribution normality were examined before testing the research model. Analyzed according to structural equation modeling to measure research hypotheses. In order to determine the mediation effect in the study, it was analyzed using the SPSS Process Macro statistics program and measured with the sobel test. According to the results of the research, the social media addiction of bank employees in Gaziantep is at the level of "less dependent", social media addiction has a negative and significant effect on job performance, work-family conflict and job satisfaction have a positive and significant effect, however, it has been determined that there is no mediating effect on job satisfaction in the effect of social media addiction on job performance and work-family conflict.
