Abstract (EN)

Communication is one of the concepts forming the consumption culture. Psychological, physiological, economic, and social-cultural shifts in the perception of spatial design is observed with the development of social media apps allowing users to contact freely. Individuals who desire to visit popular locations featured in the apps have begun to be influenced by the shared photos and comments. Visitor reviews shaping the perception have caused changes in spatial design. As a result, spatial atmospheres ideal for individuals living in the spectacle society have begun to be created in order to develop content on social media apps. In this context, the aim of the study is to identify the guiding influence of social media apps on individuals and to examine its reflections on spatial design. As for the data collection method, questionnaire technique is applied. Participants' reviews in the context of spatial design are obtained and interpreted using the statistical analytic technique. The participants of the study are selected by the simple random sampling. The sampling group consists of 458 social media users, 279 of whom are women and 179 of whom are men.
