Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study was to investigate some anthropometric, muscle strength and motor measurement values in male and female sportsmen who execise regularly, and in sedentary male and female students, in the age group between 12 and 14. The study was carried out on 60 female and male sportsmen (from different sports branches) and 60 sedentary students in the age group between 12 and 14, in Meram district of Konya province. Statistical evaluations were analyzed by SPSS 25.0 package program T test was used for independent groups in intergroup comparisons and for paired groups in intra-group comparisons (p < 0.05). As a result, when the measurements were compared between sportsmen and sedentary groups; it was observed that the measurement parameters of right and left upper leg length, right upper arm circumference and left ankle width in male sportsmen were higher than the parameters of male sedentaries (p < 0.05). In the comparison of length, circumference and width measurement parameters of female sportsmen and sedentary individuals, no statistically significant difference was detected between the groups (p > 0.05). It was determined that left hand grip strength was higher in female sportsmen than in sedentary women (p < 0.05), and right knee extension strength was higher in male sportsmen than in male sedentary (p < 0.05). On the other hand, it was observed that sit-up and push-up, horizontal jump and 20 m speed measurement parameters were higher in male sportsmen than in female sportsmen (p < 0.001; p < 0.001; p < 0.005; p < 0.005, respectively). As a result, it can be said that regular sports activity has positively affects on certain anthropometric measurement parameters, muscle strength and motor measurement values in 12-14 aged group students, and that these effects are more evident in male sportsmen.
