Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the lifestyle behaviors of women with and without stress urinary incontinence and to investigate the effects of lifestyle behaviors on stress urinary incontinence. The study was conducted between March and April 2019, 30 women (study group) who were diagnosed with stress urinary incontinence by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Memorial Şişli Hospital, 25-50 years old, who agreed to participate in the study voluntarily and 30 healthy women who met our study criteria (control group) were performed with a total of 60 women. The data were evaluated by using a questionnaire including demographic information and urinary incontinence risk factors of the women prepared by the researcher, and healthy lifestyle behaviors using the Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale II (SYBRS-II), stress urinary incontinence ICIQ-SF (Turkish version) questionnaires. Statistically significant difference wasn't observed between the groups in terms of education level, marital status, menopause, presence of chronic disease, smoking, tea and coffee consumption (p>0.005). Age, weight, BMI, occupation, income status, duration of marriage, number of births, type of delivery, presence of constipation, frequency of urinary tract infection, regular sporting status, sport duration, water and acid/carbonated beverage consumption were statistically significant. difference was found (p<0.005). When the SYBRS-II scores of the groups were examined, it was observed that the scores of the group with stress urinary incontinence were lower and a statistically significant difference was found between the groups (p<0.005). There was a statistically significant difference between ICIQ-SF4 urinary incontinence and nutrition from healthy lifestyle behaviors sub-scales (p=0.041). The daily quality of life of women with stress urinary incontinence is less affected by health responsibility. There was a statistically significant relationship between the health responsibility of healthy lifestyle behaviors subscale and the effect of ICIQ-SF5 urinary incontinence on daily life (p=0.029). There was a negative and statistically significant relationship between the total score of the SYBRS-II and the total score of ICIQ-SF (p=0.026). As a result; healthy lifestyle behaviors are associated with stress urinary incontinence, and stress incontinence can be positively affected by appropriate lifestyle.
