Abstract (EN)

Knowledge about the style was disorganized in works on the fields of oratory, rhetoric, and literary criticism in ancient Greek and Arabic literature. However, as a result of the development of criticism methods, the opportunity to examine literary texts from various aspects, as well as lagging rhetoric science behind the developments in the field of language, contributed to the progress of the style as an independent science. Although its terminology and theoretical background has not been formed and its application method is not clearly defined, style and stylistics have continued to develop as a branch of linguistics. Style discusses the usage of the linguistic elements that make up the literary text, the syntactic features and the contribution of these features to the understanding, as well as person's use of individual language. As for stylistics, it is the field that tries to determine the distinctive features of utterance and evaluates these features according to certain criteria. Subhî Fahmâwî (صبحي فحماوي), a Palestinian origin Jordanian citizen, who is one of the prominent figures of contemporary Jordanian novelism with his more than ten novels in addition to his many works in the story genre, draws attention both with the subjects he writes and the language and linguistic elements he uses. Generally, the catastrophes experienced by the Palestinian people in 1948 and 1967 one after another and the sad events that took place afterwards are the main subjects in Fahmâwî's novels. In adition, the author, who deals with many issues that he perceives as problems regarding the social life of Arabs, adopts a style that is characterized as "kahbuka" by mixing tragedy and humor in his narration. Fahmâwî enriches and presents her narration with texts of holy books, especially the Quran, hadiths, poems, songs, proverbs, idioms, jokes and stories. Fahmâwî's works, whose main purpose is to convey his thoughts to the interlocutor in the most accurate and understandable way, are also very unique in verbal and syntactic terms. In general, the author, who prefers an easy and at an understandable level of Arabic, also makes use of local Egyptian and Palestinian languages where he deems necessary. Fahmâwî, who successfully reflects his cultural background in his novels, takes the reader to different realms with the connections between texts he has established. Especially the anecdotes and stories he tells the narrator make the interlocutor, who is upset with the main subject of the novel, smile. In the study, we tried to identify these and similar features that differentiate the author in terms of language and expression. We evaluated the language used by the author in his novels from different perspectives, especially eloquence and grammar. We tried to identify every linguistic and expressive material used by the author while conveying his thoughts to the reader.
