Abstract (EN)
In this study, sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas L.) varieties (Beniazuma and Koganesengan), belong to the Convolvulaceae family and originated from Central America's tropical climate zone, was used as a plant material. The aim of the study was to determine plant growth, yield and quality parameters of sweet potato plant under different irrigation water salinity levels and to correlate plant energy usage with hyperspectral measurements in salinity stress conditions. The field studies were carried out in 2017 on the experimental parcels located under rain-out shelters. During the experiment, irrigation scheduling was based on the principle of realizing irrigation for all treatments when %40-45 of the usable water content is consumed in the 30 cm soil profile of the control parcels. In the study, there were 5 different irrigation water salinity levels (T0, T1, T2, T3 ve T4). In addition, different vegetation indexes (Normalized Plant IndexNDVI, Band Ratio Index-VI, Plant Separation Index-DVI and Water Index-WI) were calculated by using spectroradiometric measurements obtained from the vegetation cover reflection values at different wavelengths for the selected sweet potato varieties. With this study, many basic information about the reaction of sweet potato plant to the salinity caused by irrigation water have been presented and reported for regions with similar characteristics both in our country and in the world
