Süleyman Tevfik (life-art-works)

There have been many changes in Turkish literature after 1908. These changes have led to the appearance of new studies. Works written in many genres such as novels, stories, and tales have attracted the attention of the public due to the period they were living in. Together with that, the most attractive development in this period was faced in the sphere of journalism. In this period where there were many newspapers, writers' purpose was spreading their political and literary thoughts to the public through newspapers. In addition, the authors published their works in newspapers in serial form. Süleyman Tevfik is one of the most productive writers in the IInd Constitutionalism period. Having an advanced level of Arabic, Persian, and French, and an intermediate level of Italian and Armenian, Süleyman Tevfik wrote 185 works in various fields such as language, religion, literature, food, agriculture, and lexicology. Besides that, starting from the proclamation of the Republic he made efforts to increase the literacy rate of the people thanks to the folk tales he wrote. The purpose of this study is to examine the life, art, and works of Süleyman Tevfik, who has a versatile personality, from many angles. It is also to make people acquainted with unknown works and aspects of the author. In this direction, the study consists of four main sections, except the "Introduction" part, in which the literary and intellectual appearance of the period Süleyman Tevfik lived in is explained.
