The impact of the Syrian crisis on Turkey's migration policy

The study analyses the mass migration to Turkey as a result of the crisis that began in Syria in 2011 and the migration policies that Turkey produced to manage the mass migration from Syria to the territory of its own country. The Arab Spring, which started with the search for democratic rights of the peoples of the Middle East, has been the result of the internal mix within the Arab countries. As a result of these searches, the Gaddafi and Mubarak regimes in Libya and Egypt, while the Assad regime in Syria, despite the popular movement spread to the masses and the other countries, unlike other countries, this revolt has spread over many years and turned into a civil war. As a result of the emptiness of the central government in the civil war in Syria, the terrorist organizations have found a space for action. As a result of the attacks carried out in Syria by the oppression and terrorist organizations of the Assad regime, the Syrian people preferred the migration route. Turkey and Syria have common border has remained exposed to this mass migration. In the study , after first described the concept of migration from the date of establisment of the Rebuplic of Turkey to the European Union candidate country status by the Helsinki Summit which takes the process is based and in this period mass migrations towards Turkey have been examined chronologically. Policies that have been followed by Turkey aganist this immigrations is mentioned. Afterwwards, the 1951 Geneva Convention and the NewYork Protocol, which are the basic text on migrition, were examined and Turkey is also a party to this basic text. Then, the progress reports prepared by the European Union for the candidate countries were examined on the basis of migration. As a result of the study, Syrian Crisis was examined and depending on the Syrian Crisis as a result of mass migration flows to Turkey created ''Foreigners and International Protection Law No.6458'' and organized on the basis of this law, '' Temporary Protection Directive'' is put forward in this regard.
