Abstract (EN)

The subject of the study is "Clergy in the Syriac Ancient Church". In the study, the subject of clergy was discussed in the Assyrian Kadim Church, one of the oldest churches based on early Christianity. There is no independent study on the priesthood of the Syriac Ancient Church. The Syriac Ancient Church preserved the clergy from the early Christianity. Today, it is important to understand this ancient church and also to understand the origins of Christianity. In addition, the continuation of the priestly sacrament in the Syriac Ancient Church gives this church a special importance. One of the main objectives of our study is to discuss the development periods of the priesthood in the Syriac Ancient Church from past to present. Priesthood is one of the oldest and most fundamental structures of this religion, which emerged in the early development of Christianity. Monasteries emerged by gathering the lifestyle adopted by the clergy on the basis of discipline since the early periods. For this reason, monasteries have been one of the changes of Christianity. Assyrians established architecturally large monasteries, and the clergy raised in these monasteries undertook important buildings in the spiritual, social and cultural life of Syrian Christianity. While discussing the clergy in the Church hierarchy in the study, starting from the lowest level, Diaconate, and the ranks below it, in accordance with the Syriac Ancient Church Promotion and Appointment Book (Kirotuniyas). While talking about the upper class of the clergy, current information and documents were used. The purpose here is to better understand the priestly ranks. Additionally, information is given about female clergy who are not in the priestly sacrament. Because, although they do not have a hierarchical structure, female clergy also hold an important place in the Syriac Ancient Church. The aim of the study is to reveal the formation of the idea of priesthood in the Syriac Ancient Church from the historical process to the present day and the hierarchical structure of priesthood today. As a result of all these aims and objectives, it has been observed that the priesthood in the Syriac Ancient Church has a detailed, tightly organized and completely unique church hierarchy, originating from the unique conditions in the past. This structure has directly or indirectly influenced other Christian formations
