Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between coping style with stress and problem solving skills of taekwondo coaches. In addition, this study aimed to test coping style with stress and problem solving skills of coaches with regard to socio-demographic variables.448 taekwondo coaches of Turkish Taekwondo Federation ( Xage= 36.76±7.13) voluntarily participated in this study. 407 coaches are men and 41 are women. The data of this research were obtained by using three different instruments. The first one is a personal information form that was developed by the researcher. Second, ?Rosenbaum's Learned Resourcefulness Scale?, that was developed by Rosenbaum (1980) and adapted into Turkish by Dag and Siva (1991) was used to determine the coping strategies of Taekwondo coaches with stress. Third, ?Problem Solving Inventory? that developed by Heppner and Petersen and adapted into Turkish by Sahin, Sahin and Heppner, was used to determine the problem solving skills. The frequency (f), percentage (%), arithmetic mean (X) and standard deviation analysis (SD) were used in this research. In addition, independent sample t-tests for groups of two and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) for groups of three or more were used. The relation between problem solving skills and strategies of coping with stress was analysed with Pearson's Products Moment Correlation technique. In this study the significance level was taken as ? = .05 and SPSS (Statistical Packet for Social Sciences) program was utilized for the statistical analysis.The results showed that there was no statistically significant relation between the strategies of coping with stress and problem solving skills of taekwondo coaches. In addition, the coping strategies of Taekwondo coaches with stress were not significantly differed with regard to gender, coaching degree, coaching year, actively coaching, education, education of parents, status of PES Education, family's socio-economic status, being which one of the brothers/sisters, behavior of parents. In addition, there were not significant differences in the problem solving skills of taekwondo coaches, with respect to coaching degree, year of coaching, actively coaching, education, education of parents, PES education status, family's socio-economic status, behavior of parents. On the other hand, problem solving skills of coaches differed in terms of order of born and gender.Keywords: Education and Training, Taekwondo, Sports, Coach, Physical Education, Stress, Coping with stress, Problem Solving.
