Investigation of functional movement screen, posture and dynamic balance in team and individual athletes

Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to examine the functional movement analysis, posture and dynamic balances of the teams and individual athletes actively participating in different branches in Adana. A total of 112 male athletes from team sports (n = 59) and individual sports (n = 53) participated in the study voluntarily. The age of the athletes participating in the study was 19.02 ± 1.36 years, body weight 71.92 ± 8.98 kg, average height 1.79 ± 0.07 m, sports age 6.50 ± 2.48 years, number of weekly training 5 , 27 ± 0.97 days and weekly training hours were found to be 12.01 ± 2.61 hours. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to determine the normality distribution of the data obtained in the study. Parametric tests were applied as the data showed normal distribution. Independent t test and One Way ANOVA were used to compare the differences between means, and chi-square test was used to compare the difference between two categorical groups. According to the data obtained, no significant difference was found between the results of functional movement analysis, lower extremity Y dynamic balance, anterior posture analysis, vertical posture angle values and trunk flexion-extension angle results of the team and individual athletes (p> 0.05). In the upper extremity Y dynamic balance, a significant difference was found only in the medial direction in favor of team sports (Basketball) (p <0.05). In the lateral posture analysis (postural asymmetry), a significant difference was found in favor of team sports only in acromion (volleyball) (p = 0.04) and trochanter major (handball) (p = 0.01). In line with these findings, the difference in favor of team sports in the upper extremity Y dynamic balance and lateral posture analysis is that the branches in team sports are generally the branches in which the upper extremities actively It can be said that a change in the center of gravity and therefore postural asymmetry occurs. It should be taken into consideration that postural asymmetry in athletes may negatively affect the health and performance parameters of the body such as injury, performance loss, limitation of movement in the future. Therefore, corrective exercise programs should be created to bring the deviations to be detected in their postural structures to their normal limits by following the postural conditions of the athletes involved in team sports.
