Abstract (EN)
The Enlightenment Period is the age in which the intellectual and philosophical foundations of Western civilization's project of building a new society and human beings were formed. In this period, the concepts of man and his freedom had a significant impact on the shaping of the age. People, who were overwhelmed by dogmatic thoughts and behaviors until the Enlightenment, now acted only with the data of science and reason in this period. Philosophers had the most important share in the systematization of the period. Their rationalist perspectives on every subject also led to a move away from Christianity and other religions. While Ibrahim Hakkı of Erzurumlu, a part of the Anatolian tradition of wisdom, who was contemporary with the Enlightenment philosophers, was creating his own Enlightenment, it was the Islamic religion that enlightened his path. Hakkı saw the source of various troubles in his time as people, not religion, and formed his thoughts with the help of reason under the guidance of the Islamic Religion. In this study, Enlightenment philosophers and Ibrahim Hakki of Erzurumlu are compared and analyzed phenomenologically in the context of religion and morality.
