Strikes and non-strike actions in the historical process in Turkey: A study of the 2015 Bursa metal non-strike action and its effects on the 2017 group collective bargaining agreement

The increase in production with the Industrial Revolution has led to the emergence of the working class. In this period, some conflicts emerged between workers and employers. As a result of these conflicts, the working class has resorted to strikes and non-strike action to protect their rights and interests. Although there is no large working class in the first period there have been many strikes and non-strike actions in Turkey. The 1961 Constitution guarantees the right to strike. However, there were no expected explosions in strike numbers. In this context, strike and non-strike action have evolved over the years. After 1980, economic and political transformations deeply affected strikes and non-strike action. Increasing the influence of the neoliberal policies has necessitated the protection of the interests of the working class. Therefore, strike and non-strike action have increased. In this context, despite the decrease in the number of strikes, non-strike action have increased after 2000s. This study examines that strike and non-strike action in Bursa after 2014 with using depth interview method.
