Abstract (EN)

Tuberculosis is a disease that is easily transmitted by the close contact and is considered as a potential death hazard, so it should be diagnosed quickly and treated effectively. In this study; clinical samples from patients with suspected tuberculosis were compared with EZN and AR staining methods. In our study; The sensitivity of AR staining method (92%) was higher than the sensitivity of EZN staining method (78%). The specificity of EZN staining (94%) was lower than the specificity of AR staining (84%). In our study, we screened the area of the microscope when compared with the EZN staining time of an average of 5.4 minutes, a preparation stained with AR was examined at an average of 2.8 minutes. As a result; The use of a high-sensitivity staining method will reduce the number of samples to be examined, thereby increasing the probability of detecting culture-positive samples by shortening the area scanning time for each preparation.
