The attitude of the technology and design teachers ti measurement and evaluation

This study aimed to determine the attitudes and contents of technology and design teachers towards measurement and evaluation in line with the technology and design course curriculum and to get their views on measurement and evaluation. The research was carried out with technology and design teachers who were determined by the sampling method and working in Konya province and its districts in 2021-2022. The mixed-method, in which quantitative and qualitative studies are carried out together, was used in the research. The mixed model is based on the collection and analysis of findings for a study using various techniques. In this way, more valid and reliable results are tried to be achieved. In the quantitative aspect of this study, in order to try to describe the attitudes of technology and design teachers towards measurement and evaluation in their own conditions, in terms of various variables, "relational survey model from survey models"; in the qualitative dimension of the study, a "case study design" from the qualitative research method was used to obtain more in-depth data on "technology and design teachers' perceptions of measurement and evaluation". The study group of the research consists of technology and design teachers working in secondary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in the 2021-2022 academic year. The opinions of 350 participants in the quantitative dimension of the research and 56 participants in the qualitative dimension were consulted. The data in the quantitative dimension of the research were collected through the "Assessment and Evaluation Attitude Scale towards Teachers" developed by Tezci (2019). Before applying the scale, necessary permissions were obtained from the scale owner and the Provincial Directorate of National Education. In addition, the qualitative data of the study were obtained by using the interview form developed by the researcher with 56 randomly selected teachers participating in the survey. In order to determine the "attitudes of technology and design teachers towards measurement and evaluation", the independent sample t-test was used to determine the level of attitude towards measurement and evaluation according to the variables of "gender, place of work, and education level"; One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to determine the differences between the categories of the variables "age, professional seniority, graduated program and participation in in-service courses". The categorical data of the Interview Form was presented as frequency and percentages. The mean score of the scale was calculated as 3.73 over 5-Likert points and 82.17 points over the total score. The high scores on the scale indicate that the attitudes of technology and design teachers towards measurement and evaluation are high in a positive way. In addition, in the light of the data obtained through the interview form, 15 categories were created by dimensioning the opinions of technology design teachers participating in the research on measurement and evaluation, and a total of 145 opinions were expressed regarding these categories. The results obtained from the qualitative data also support the quantitative findings. In the interviews, it was seen that the participants mostly attributed positive emotions to the measurement and evaluation studies.
