Abstract (EN)

In this study, Examining the effects of techno-organic education model and first reading and writing education on students' academic success and attitudes in the first reading and writing teaching within the scope of Makey Makey Kit applications; It is aimed to determine the general views of educators, students and parents of students about the model and the kit used within the scope of the model. In the research, the concepts of education and techno-organic education were emphasized, applications in the field of techno-organic education, alternative education models and research on the effects of coding-based education on student success were examined. The sample of the quantitative dimension of the research consists of 35 students studying in the first grade of Şanlı Primary School located in Büyükçaylı village of Ceylanpınar district in Şanlıurfa. The study group of the qualitative dimension of the research consists of 18 students in the experimental group, 5 classroom teachers and 18 parents of students. Mixed method, in which quantitative and qualitative research designs are used together, was used in the research.Explanatory sequential mixed method design, one of the mixed designs, was used. In the quantitative dimension of the research, quasi-experimental design, which is one of the experimental design types, was used. Literacy Determination Form developed by the researcher during the data collection phase of the quantitative dimension, Reading Comprehension Form, Dictation Study Form and Reading Speed Measurement Form were used. In the qualitative dimension of the research, the phenomenology design was used. In this part, data were collected through semi-structured interview forms applied to students, educators and parents. In the study, the experimental and control groups were determined by random placement using the group matching method; The experimental group consisted of 18 students and the control group consisted of 17 students. While the Techno-Organic Education Model was carried out with the Makey Makey kit in the first reading and writing teaching process in the experimental group, the education continued with the Traditional Education Model in the control group. Quantitative data in the study were analyzed using the Mann Whitney U test. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. Before quantitative data analysis, the normality distribution was checked for each test. As a result of the studies, it was determined that the groups did not show a normal distribution. For this reason, the Mann-Whitney U Test was used in the analysis of quantitative data. Content analysis was used in the analysis of the data collected from the qualitative dimension of the research. According to the results of the analysis of the data regarding the quantitative dimension of the study, a statistically significant difference was found in 3 out of 5 tests in the reading comprehension tests of the experimental and control groups, and in all of the dictation tests and speed reading skill tests. It was seen that all of the differences found were in favor of the experimental group. According to the results of the analysis of the data on the qualitative dimension of the research, it was seen that the students' views on the techno-organic education model and the Makey Makey kit were positive. It has been determined that the applied method attracts the attention of the students, increases their motivation to the lesson and their motivation to learn. Teachers stated that the method and kit facilitate learning, appeal to more than one sense, attract attention, provide permanent learning and are effective in maintaining the technology-nature balance. It was determined that the parents encountered the makey makey kit and the techno-organic education model for the first time and thought that it would be effective in the first reading and writing education. According to the results obtained, it was seen that the qualitative and quantitative data support each other, and the Techno-Organic Education Model and Makey Makey kit positively affected the reading and writing teaching process.
