Abstract (EN)

Thesis Title: THE EFFECT OF MUSICAL COORDINATION STUDIES ON BALANCE PERFORMANCE AND RHYTHM SKILLS IN CHILDREN IN BASIC GYMNASTICS EDUCATION Name of Student: Sinem YÜRÜK Advisor: : Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Mehmet ASMA Department: Department of Physical Education and Sports 2. ABSTRACT Aim: The aim of this research is to examine the effects of musical coordination studies on balance performance and rhythm skills in children in basic gymnastics education. Material and methods: This study, which was carried out in an experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group, was carried out in the gymnasium of Manisa Spil Sports Center for 11 weeks, including the pretest and posttest measurement weeks, aged 9-12 years old, who received gymnastics training for a maximum of 2 years. It was carried out with an experimental group of 10 people and a control group of 10 people. Balance scores were measured with the Y-balance test, and rhythm measurements were measured with the Rhythmic Competence Analysis Test. Results: As a result of the nine-week studies, which were excluded from the measurements, a significant difference was found between the pretest-posttest rhythm measurements and balance scores of both the experimental and control groups. The difference between the groups was not statistically significant. Conclusion: It was concluded that musical coordination exercises gave similar results in terms of balance and rhythm development in line with the standard gymnastics program, but it was not more effective than the standard program. However, since it has been proven by many studies that music has psychological and motivational benefits on people, it should be used and spread in various ways in sports. Key words: Basic gymnastics, music, rhythm, balance, coordination.
