Opinions of classroom teachers and preschool teachers on the use of outdoor games in basic education

This research is a quantitative research and it is a scale development study conducted in the survey model. The aim of the research is to develop a valid and reliable scale to determine the views of teachers on the use of outdoor games in basic education and to examine the views of preschool teachers and classroom teachers in terms of various variables with the developed scale. In the research, it was aimed to determine the validity and reliability of the scale developed for teachers' use of outdoor games in basic education. In the study, it was also found that the teachers' "contribution of games to students", "criteria to be considered in game selection" and "problem areas in game use" dimension scores differed significantly according to gender variable, age variable, seniority variable, education level variable, graduated faculty variable and branch variable. It was aimed to determine whether The sample of the research consists of 629 classroom teachers and pre-school teachers working in the central district of Bitlis. Content validity, construct validity and Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient were studied to calculate the validity and reliability of the scale. When the items in the factors are examined, since it is observed that the items under the first factor are related to the appropriateness and contribution level of the children's developmental areas, this dimension is the "contribution of the games to the students", and the items in the second factor are for the criteria to be taken as basis in the selection of outdoor games. As the items in the third factor focus on the problem areas encountered in the game preferences or use of the teachers, they are named as "problem areas in the use of games". When the Cronbach Alpha values of the scale are examined, it is found that the total Cronbach Alpha Coefficient of the measurement tool is ,868. When the reliability coefficients related to the sub-dimensions are examined, it is seen that it is ,937 in the sub-dimension of 'the contribution of games to the student', .917 in the dimension of 'criteria to be considered in the selection of games' and ,922 for the third dimension 'problem areas in the use of games'. When the Cronbach Alpha criterion value ranges are examined, it is seen that the scale at hand has a coefficient indicating "quite high" reliability and that measurement results with a high reliability level of the scale can be obtained.With the application of the scale, it was determined that the teachers' views on the use of outdoor games in basic education did not differ significantly according to the gender variable, age variable, seniority variable, education level variable, graduated faculty variable and branch variable.
