Theme and structure in the novels by Tezer Özlü

The aim of this study is to present the author?s life story, personality and her understanding of art as well as to examine the author?s novels and stories in the light of the pieces of information gathered from her life, side disciplines (psychology, philosophy, sociology), and various methods (structuralism, psychoanalytic theory, existentialism). When examining the novels and the stories, the heart of the works have been tried to catch by using categories such as plot, theme, characters, setting, point of view and the narrator. In the first part, Turkish novel and story from the Tanzimat era to the Republic period has been briefly covered for a better understanding of its place in Turkish literature. In the second part, the author?s life, personality and works have been introduced; and in the last part novels and stories were examined in two separate chapters. While stories were evaluated all together, novels were assessed one by one. Key words: Tezer Özlü, novel, story
