Abstract (EN)
This study revealed the molecular, biochemical and haematological features of B-Thalassemia patients in Thiqar in 2019. A total of 150 patients with β-thalassemia major, 66 males and 84 females aged 2 months to 33 years, were included in this study. Our study's age group with the highest number of patients was between 11-20. When the distribution of thalassemia according to blood groups is examined, it has been determined that it is mostly seen in people with the O+ blood group. In addition, in our study, the highest number of cases were seen in patients with ferritin values of 1001-3000. The group with the highest serum ALT (Alanine Transaminase) value was determined in the 21-30 age group (46 people). According to the leukocyte (white blood cell, WBC) ratio, the group with the highest thalassemia was 8.1-11, and the number of infected people was (30). When the patients are evaluated in terms of platelet (PLT) value, the group with the highest platelet value is 201-300, and the number of infected people is (40). According to the correlation groups created according to the degree of kinship, Type correlation 1 had the highest thalassemia rate (it saw that the number of infected people reached 50), but the distribution of thalassemia among unrelated individuals took close values as in other correlation types.
