Our clinical and radiological results in patient who underwent tibialis anterior tendon transfer

Introduction and Objective: This study aims to evaluate the clinical and radiological results of the patients, who were admitted to Dicle University Faculty of Medicine Hospital Orthopedic Clinic due to dynamic supination recurrence and underwent Tibialis Anterior Tendon Transfer (TATT). Material and Method: In the study, 34 legs of 20 patients were retrospectively analyzed. The patients had undergone Ponseti method previously, and TATT operation was performed due to dynamic supination recurrence. The clinical condition of the patients was evaluated by Laaveg-Ponseti functional evaluation score. AP and Lateral foot-ankle images of the patients were taken. Talus 1st metatarsal angle (TMA) and talocalcaneal angle (TCA) were measured in the AP and lateral images. Results: Of the patients, 60% was male and 40% was female.İt was seen that the average age was 10.45 years (5-14 years), the age of surgery was 4 years (2-5 years) for girls, 3 years (2-5 years) for boys, and the average follow-up period was 6.95 years (2-9 years). Looking at the Ponseti score according to the gender of the patients, it was found that the right foot averages (n=11) were 82.36°, the left foot averages (n=9) were 86.44° for boys, the right foot averages of girls (n=7) were 82.00°, and the left foot averages (n=7) were 84.14°. In the examination of the X-rays according to gender of the patients, the AP-TCA right foot average of boys was 23.82°, left foot average was 26.11°, and right foot average of girls was 25.14°, and left foot average was 25.57°. İt was found that the AP-TMA right foot average of boys was 11.73°, left foot average was 7.44°, and right foot average of girls was 10.43°, and left foot average was 8.71°. İt was seen that the lateral TCA right foot average of the boys was 25.73°, left foot average was 29.44°, and lateral TCA right foot average of the girls was 25.57°, and their left foot average was 26.00°.İt was found that the lateral TMA right foot average of the boys was 12.00°, left foot average was 13.78°, and right foot average of the girls was 7.57°, and their left foot average was 10.43°. Conclusions: Recurrences in our patients were deformities that could be corrected with TATT. We believe that the clinical and radiological results of the TATT, which we have performed in the treatment of dynamic supination recurrences observed after Ponseti method, were good. TATT can be preferred as a highly effective treatment method for dynamic supination recurrence.
