Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to examine the effect of fear of movement on the quality of life of individuals with type 2 diabetes. The descriptive research was conducted with 100 patients who applied to the diabetes outpatient clinic of state hospitals in Şanlıurfa province and received inpatient treatment in the internal medicine clinic. Data were collected using the "Patient Identifier Form", which includes socio-demographic and disease information of the patients, "Ferrans and Powers Quality of Life Index Diabetes version-III" and "Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale (TKÖ)". The average age of the individuals who participated in the research was 53.95±9.94, 54% of the participants were male, 54% were primary school graduates, 72% were married and 36% were housewives. It has been observed that motivational training and health belief models given to diabetic patients are effective in changing their physical activity behaviors. (p<0.05). The individuals in our study included age, gender, education level, marital status, occupation, history of diabetes, complications experienced, etc. It was observed that there were level differences in the fear of movement depending on the reasons. In patients with type 2 diabetes, women had more kinesiophobic beliefs than men. A decrease in the level of education increased kinesiophobic beliefs. Housewives had the most kinesiophobic attitudes. As the quality of life of type 2 diabetic patients deteriorated, kinesiophobic thoughts increased. It has been determined that the quality of life deteriorates more as a result of the increase in kinesiophobic thoughts, and the satisfaction with the quality of life increases with the increase in the number of trainings received in patients with Type 2 diabetes and the increase in the level of knowledge of the patients about 'disease and diabetes'.
