The assessment of planning and design criteria with user relations in housing estate; Example of Istanbul

The expectation, as the time passes, from the house has appeared to be not onlya need for shelter but the that of finding various social and cultural areas and facilities.Housing areas are evaluated with the environmental features and facility areas theyhave.In this scope of research, factors effective in users' preferences, their degreeof contentment, expectations and desires were attemped to be determined by examiningexemplary areas chosen from Başakşehir Housing Estate which and Kağıthane SocialHousing which areas in İstanbul with respect to the criterias of planning and design.Choosen housing areas were examined with gographical, social and culturalsides, with literature scanning, timely observation, diffrent maps and air photographs, andwith the half standart methods of survey which was applied to randomly chosen users,and their answers were evaluated with the frequency and factorial anaysis in SPSSprogramme and solutions were offered by putting forward problems.Whereas the features of housing are underlined on account of choice,contentment and user's features,no important realtionship has been noticed as to theouter environment in terms of user's characteristics. In planning and design, functionaland aesthetic exercises must be done for the users in every age and against the problemswhich can occour, attractive, inspiring areas must be constructed simultaneously withbuildings by offering suitable solutions in the planning phase. During the time of houseplanning and design, evironments will be for beter to live if including LandscapeArchitects and there will be positive developments in users? preferance andcontentments.
