Hydrogeology of the Torbalı area

ABSTRACT This study, consist of hydrogeological and geologycal study of Torbalı around in Izmir. The Cretaseus İzmir Flysch units consist of strangly deformed internal fabric, is composed of a matrix of flysch and Campanien age and blocks of neritic Limestone up to in İzmir Flysch units. The Neogene units consist of Sandstone, Claystone and Limestone, which discordans top of the İzmir Flysch units. The bedrock of study areas are Marble and Sists Units. Units have medium temperature and low pressure metamorphism and higher of tectonizm. The Izmir Flysch Units on the Mesozoic Units by the fault. Because of Alpine and Hersiniyene orogenez have had twist and fracture in all of rocks. The quaternary age of Allüvyone Units have discordans on the Neogene Units. The study areas have important for groundwater. The aquifer rocks are, Quaternary Allüvyone, Creatures Limestone, Mesozoic Marble and Neogene Units. The groundwater table is 30 m. The groundwater table was low by the pomping and drought for 2-3 m in depth. The groundwater table have obtained very long time. Because of the drought the groundwater table has low 1 m in 1 year. The study area have drought periods of 10 years. The common people have use drink and irrigation of 200 drilling in study area. The north of study area have obtained 450-500 lt/s springs on the Neogene Claystone and Limestone boundary. But didn't obtained springs in the study area. The Torbalı basin have free aquifer. But because of free aquifer the basin have pollution's on the surface. The Derice River have pollution's by the industry in the midle of Torbalı basin. The developing industry have pollution's and the narrow Torbalı basin. The groundwater is very important in future. Therefore the groundwater is necessary to protect for using.The industry and house should have contraction on the high section. The pollution's of industry should have deposits of section area. This section is very important for human healthy.
