Abstract (EN)
Our study aims to categorize patients presenting to the emergency department with TIAlike symptoms based on precise diagnostic score and risk stratification for trans ischemic attack scores, to evaluate the effectiveness and prognostic value of serum elisa glycoprotein-VI levels in the diagnosis of trans ischemic attack. The study commenced after obtaining the necessary permissions from the Ethics Committee of Trakya University Faculty of Medicine, dated 18.03.2024 and decision number 05/38. It is a retrospective descriptive study. A total of 85 cases were included in the study (Male=47 (55%), Female=38 (45%)). The average age of the cases was not specified. Comorbidities were found in 68.2% of cases, with hypertension (57.6%) and diabetes (34.1%) being the most common. A statistically significant difference in glycoprotein-VI levels was observed between the precise diagnostic score groups (p=0.001). Post hoc analysis revealed a ranking of glycoprotein-VI levels as follows: trans ischemic attack very likely > trans ischemic attack likely > not trans ischemic attack. A statistically significant difference in glycoprotein-VI levels was also found between risk stratification for trans ischemic attack scores groups (p=0.046), with higher glycoprotein-VI values in the risk stratification for trans ischemic attack scores ≥ 4 group. A significant positive correlation was found between glycoprotein-VI and precise diagnostic score (r=0.682, p=0.001) and risk stratification for trans ischemic attack scores (r=0.469, p=0.001). Receiver Operating Characteristic analysis showed that glycoprotein-VI had an area under the curve of 0.821 with a cut-off of 85.15, achieving 76% sensitivity and 75% specificity, which was statistically significant. Conclusions: The results of the study support the potential use of glycoprotein-VI levels as a biomarker in the diagnosis of trans ischemic attack. The findings demonstrate a strong association between high glycoprotein-VI levels and the likelihood of trans ischemic attack.
