Abstract (EN)

Social awareness, which has increased a lot because of the development in communication facilities and access to the information, makes consumers more and more conscious. Many studies report that a bigger number of consumers pay attention to ethical and social issues when making a decision to purchase every passing day. This has brought about a New consumption behavior called ethical consumption, which is essentially displayed to avoid harming human beings, nature, and animals. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationships between ethical values playing a role in consumers' decision to purchase and other factors, to reveal which internal and external consumer behavior components affect ethical/unethical consumer behaviors, and to investigate the influence of ethical perception on consumption. The study group contains consumers living in the Adana province. It was found out that attitude towards ethical consumption is the most important factor influential on ethical consumption intention. According to the findings, individuals with high social awareness, environmental consciousness, and collectivism are more prone to ethical consumption. However, no significant relationship was found between attitude and intention towards ethical consumption and religious belief. In addition, a significant positive relationship was detected between the monetary cost of ethical consumption behavior and attitude towards this way of consumption. Likewise, a positive relationship was identified between attitude towards this way of consumption and intention to display ethical consumption behavior.
