Tuncer Uçarol's critic identity

Since the Tanzimat Period, many writers and critics have written and produced works in the criticism type. Tuncer Uçarol is an important critic who came to the fore especially in the 1980s. In this study; Tuncer Uçarol's critic identity has been examined using his methods, based on poetry criticism. Tuncer Uçarol is a critic and writer who has published over 600 articles and writes in magazines. He thought of publishing his criticism articles into a book, but it was not possible in his health. Considering to publish his criticisms as three books, only one of these books was published by Uçarol. This book, which he named Analytical Poetry Criticism (2018), was published by his brother Rifat Uçarol. In this study, three books that Uçarol intends to publish will be examined. The critic chose his critiques for these three books as he saw fit, and also prepared introductions and bibliographies for his books. In this study, the preference of examining the three books that Uçarol thinks and wants to be published is due to the importance the critic attaches to these criticisms. The critic wrote his writings from a subjective point of view, but not only did this, but he also gave importance to details and used original methods in his analysis. The critic, who writes with a text-oriented perspective and attaches importance to using numerical data, tried to add new words to Turkish and rewrote some of the poems he studied. The names he gave to the types of his criticism and the pure Turkish words he used also attract attention. Tuncer Uçarol, in addition to revealing a type of criticism that he calls "journal criticism" and which has not been used before, also prepared notes in diary form when starting his book. This study was limited to the criticisms of the poetry that Tuncer Uçarol chose in these three books, among which many articles he thought to publish. Apart from these, Uçarol has many articles in the form of daily, essays and interviews. The information about Uçarol's two unpublished books has been analyzed by comparing the documents submitted to us and the articles published in journals. Among these manuscripts delivered to us, only files about three books that the critic intended to publish were considered. To determine the changes made by Uçarol, the ones of these articles published in journals have been acquired and examined.
