Abstract (EN)

Our countries FDI outflows have been raising over the last decade. This rapid increase brings about the need for questioning the reasons of investments. This thesis aim to compare the foreign direct investments of Turkish companies with developed-emerging and developing countries in terms of various dimensions such as investment reasons, forms and previous export experiences. In this context 22 FDI of 19 different companies examined by questionnaire and findings are supported with correlations the macro data.The study?s findings can be summarized under 4 topics. First, market diversification is basic motivation of the Turkish foreign investments. Second, Turkish companies give primary importance to infrastructure facilities of host country while choosing investment place. Third, most of Turkish companies have export experiences to host country before the FDI. Fourth, in developed countries investments were made mainly through acquisitions, in emerging and developing countries investments were made mainly greenfield investments and joint ventures.Keywords: Foreign Direct İnvestment, Turkish Companies.
