Abstract (EN)

Null-extravagance, by term, imply the application of Lean Management Phlyosophy. Since the main aim of Lean Management is enabling the demanding party's (here the people) requests to be fulfilled in the most quick, safest and fastest way as well as developing immediate and effective solutions to problems in an operational environment, instutions in public health services will be able to adopt all these requirements at once by correctly transforming themselves into such techniques into their management systems. Accordingly, this study aims at providing a quantitative measure of Lean Management techniques over the perception level of nursing staff in the Turkish Health Services sector. The first part of this thesis is devoted to providing an insight to the main attributes of the Health Services sector, followed by the second part where principles of Lean Management and its applications into the Health Services sector is provided. The final section is devoted to a questionarrie-based research applied to nursery staff employed at the Central and Eastern Lands of Black-sea region of Turkey. The surveys are applied via internet (e-mail) and the outcomes are analysed using the data from 182 respondants within SPSS 16.0 Software Package.. The data analysis is focused on analysis of various factors along with correlation and regression analyses. As a final outcome, it has been figured out that, based on the data available, decrease in the level of motion wastage and workload were found to have a direct and positive effect on the nurses' perception of occupational satisfaction. Based on this outcome, some reccomendations towards the academic and management interests are proposed. Key words : Lean, Process Development, Continuous Improvement, 5S, Kaizen
