Abstract (EN)

Metaphors are natural forms of thought reflected in language in the context of mind and language. Metaphors, which emerge as a natural formation of cognitive processes, are often central to linguistic expressions, whether consciously or unintentionally. Metaphors, as adopted by classical / traditional theory, are a conscious and eager use of expression with aesthetic and rhetorical chanting. Modern theory, on the other hand, sees metaphor as the manifestation of life and its situation in linguistic expressions conceptualized by cognitive processes. While classical / traditional theory is that ideas can be expressed fully without metaphors, modern theory argues that without metaphors, the dimensions of thought and experience cannot be fully replaced in this respect, and in this respect metaphors are a linguistic necessity. Modern theory argues that language is composed of indicators, but also includes metaphors to a large extent. In the present study, the language and cognition axis of the metaphor reinterpreted with modern data will be tried to be shown with the traditional understanding and how it will be reflected in Turkish from the same context. Within the framework of modern theories, the names of organs in Turkish will be studied from a new perspective, and the connection with the orientation metaphors will be revealed. The metaphorical meanings on language will be emphasized. Information about metaphorical categories will be given and the relationship between orientation metaphors and physical experience dimension with body parts in Turkish and some other languages will be tried to be revealed. By giving examples from the texts we will give examples of body parts in Turkish with diacronic- semantic analysis thus linguistic operating system and semantic formations of Turkish will be revealed. Keywords: Metaphor, Cognitive Linguistics, Turkish Body Parts, Orientation Metaphors
