Resource crictism in Turkish poet tezkires

Poets tezkires rank first among the resources providing information about poets in Classical Turkish literature. In poetry tezkires which are indispensable for the history of Turkish literature, it is seen that tezkire writers have applied to many oral and written sources to give necessary information about poets. It is obvious that the author is trying to transfer the most authentic and reliable information to the reader in order to place the biographical information in the thesis on a solid basis. Therefore, the oral or written resources used with the aim informing in the first tezkire until those of XX. century have often been subject to an assessment by the authors. While these evaluations sometimes include a judgment about how the author used the work, sometimes showed that the information provided by the source is incorrect or incomplete.. For this reason, it is obliged to criticize the verbal or written sources in which the authors of the tezkire who give the most accurate and reliable information to their work give missing or incorrect information. In the thesis we prepared, firstly written and oral sources in the tezkires of poets were determined. The ways in which these written and oral sources which were determined based on listing method, were crictised, were put forward under headings. Subsequently, information about the written sources which were criticized and who criticized them, was given. In the last stage, information about the methods applied by the authors during the review of oral and written sources or mehtods developed by themselves was provided. Our aim is to reveal that the Turkish poet tezkires, who are one of the main sources of classical Turkish literature, do not accept the written and oral sources they use to provide the most accurate information about the poet to write their biography on a solid basis. Tezkire authors did not use the written and oral sources they had acquired about the poet to include their biography in their works without evaluating and filtering them. In this context, it can be said that tezkires are the works that represent the most critical understanding in classical Turkish literature.
