Psycho-social and socio-cultural integration of international students in Turkey: İstanbul case

Turkey has been faced with immigrations from Middle Asia, Africa and Balkans for educational purposes especially in recent years. Although so many researches were made about the sociocultural and psychological adaptation of students who immigrate to Turkey for educational purposes, making brand new field research became necessary because of the increase in the number and variety of students who are coming to Turkey due to the acceleration that Turkey is gained in education, science, technology and economy. Factors that affect the sociocultural and psychological adaptation of international students also affect their processes of adaptation to the host society. Having healthy adaptation process ensures high level of adaptation. Quantitative scanning model is used as a research method. In research, it is concluded that more than half of the students are pleased to have education in Turkey and feel like they are belong to Turkey. It is resulted that being pleased with having an education in Turkey affects socio-cultural and psycho-social adaptation level of students positively.
