Abstract (EN)
Cyprus Issue, which is the first piorety on Turkish-Greek problems, takes a signifciant place in Turkish agenda and in Turkish Foreign Policy since 1950's. However, the foundation of the Cyprus Issue was laid with the thought of Megali Idea, emerged at the end of the 1700's and showed Cyprus within the boundaries of Great Greece. The thought of Megali Idea also influenced the Geerk Cypriots and an initiative, preparing for an uprising in 1821, was taken in order to Enosis. The main event in Cyprus started after the Ottoman State temporarily handed over the Cyprus to British in June 4, 1878 and gradually climbed. Turkish Cypriots have begun to be subject to the massacres of EOKA terrorist organization since 1955. Unfortunately, the Turkish Goverments have begun to embrace the Cyprus issue from the date. Zurih and London Agreements were signed due to the Turkish attempts and having agreemet at a commenpoint with Greece, the Greek attacks were temporarily stopped. The Republic of Cyprus was established in August 16, 1960 as a result of those agreements. The established Republic, was run out upon the Greeks activated the "Akritas" plan of genocide as of 21 December 1963. Makarios unilaterally declared that he abolished the Treaties of 1960s in January 1, 1964, Cyprus became an island which was dominated by the facto of Greeks.
